Prairie Sumac lace curtains were derived from a 1907 leaded glass window designed by Marion Mahony Griffin, the first licensed female architect in Illinois and colleague of Frank Lloyd Wright. This lace curtain panel is a stylized version of the ubiquitous Mid-Western prairie plant.

Taking its cue from Wright’s legendary Prairie School of architecture, the unique Prairie Sumac lace curtain is decidedly American in stylistic influence and reflects the robust architecture of the Plains States. It is equally attractive a Craftsman, Bungalow or Mission Style house.

Prairie Sumac lace curtains are designed for maximum privacy while allowing plenty of filtered light to flow through into the room. The cafe curtain length of 32” will permit those who have ornamental upper sashes to enjoy this feature of their houses while gaining seclusion in the lower portion of the window.

Prairie Sumac is an Exclusive Cooper Lace pattern woven in 100% Scottish Cotton Madras, and finished in Ivory. Madras is a painstakingly-manufactured textured weave applied over a fine scrim mesh and is renown for its detail and depth. This pattern is woven in three widths and available in stock and custom lengths. Custom shortening is available for $10/panel; please order the stock size longer than your desired custom length and indicate it on the order form.

All panels are delivered with a 1-1/2” rod pocket and 1” decorative header above it (unless otherwise requested). Bottom rod pockets will be added upon request. International shipping is available.
